no rest for the worker bee...

what a crazy week it has been... As I have mentioned before, I work full time at a hospital, part time at a gym as well as being a full time parent, girlfriend, socialite, etc. I think it's catching up with me. I'm feeling the need to rest...
Okay, feeling better, I have to share some gym experiences that have been adding up. Not only do I work there, but I work out there. In fact, I've been a member for 5 1/2 years. It's a great gym and I love working out. It's my sanctuary. I put my ear buds in, watch some HBO to go while I'm on cardio and then Pandora radio for some GirlTalk mashups. I'm strictly all business when I'm a patron. I have very little time to chat, I have to get in, work out, and go get my kids. When I'm working, that is a different story....
I work every Saturday from 8-2. I work for little money, but it covers my membership and a little extra money, so it's all good. I bust my butt in those 6 hours, I wash mirrors, equipment, fill the water jug, pick up towels...you know, I'm working as a mom!!  The best part is while I'm doing all those duties, my ears and eyes are completely open. I listen to conversations, I watch people's behaviors, I watch people watch people. If I were majoring in Sociology, this would be a great case study. One conversation that really caught my attention was between the youth of our world, the generation that would be making decisions regarding my healthcare when I'm older, potentially raising my taxes in the years to come, they were talking about girls. These boys were talking about a friend of theirs who broke up with his girlfriend only to get back with her a couple days later. They kept going on and on about if you break up, stay broken up, don't get sucked back in...blah blah blah. There was a little bit of high five-ing going on and "what a dumb@$$" until I saw a light bulb go off in one of these all knowing teenagers...he turns to the guy who brought up the topic to begin with and said "wait a minute, didn't you break up with your girlfriend only to turn around and get back together with her 2 days later?" To that the busted boy replied, "yeah, but that's different, I was going on vacation and didn't want to be tied down, I knew I would get back with her when I got home."
The wisdom of our youth. I'm sure this story was funnier when I was listening, but hopefully it will give all of us with boys perspective into what we have in store!!

Random Friday activities...

Today Jason and the kids left for England, the boys are off with their dad getting ready for their vacation and I am left alone with the pups. I really thought I was going to enjoy the quietness of the evening, but soon found myself stirring.
First, I got a haircut. For those of you who know me, I have been growing my hair and it has reached a length I have never had before. I have become one of those weird people who cringe when I think of getting a trim. Today, I was brave and had a whole inch cut off!  Yay me!  I'm sure my hair will thank me.
Next stop, Marshalls... I have a weakness for Marshalls and TJMaxx.  I like to roam around and look at almost everything... Well, I don't like looking through the clothes cuz it's always a mess, but I like the kitchen stuff, the shoes... Today I made a FIND!! Back to the luscious hair on my head, I don't wash it everyday and I have been looking for a cute shower cap (yes, I said shower cap) to wear on my non-wash days. I found one with pink and blue and frills...totally girly. I can't wait to use it. I shall post pics soon, I promise!!
After Marshalls, I braved Walmart. I loathe Walmart. I'm not really sure why I went in, but I was lonely and bored so in I went. I grabbed a buggy, made a turn toward the pharmacy to look at vitamins, and ran smack into this middle aged, heavy set, short man. He looked at me, looked nervous and grabbed a bottle of KY warming and ran off. I stood in shock for a moment, chuckled a bit, and carried on. What did I buy, do you ask? Oh, glamourous stuff here...toilet bowl cleaner, push pins, bookcase, and a laundry basket. I'm awesome, I know.
I decided I had spent enough of my hard earned money and went home to rescue the doggies. I took both of them for a mile-ish walk and really enjoyed it!  We ran and played, got ourselves tangled in leashes and then collapsed as we stepped back in the door. Now both of them are out like a light and I'm catching up on my True Blood.
Overall, I would rate this night a 9. I got my hair did, bought me a purty shower cap, and exercised just a little bit. Tomorrow I imagine the fun will continue.
Good night all!!

True Blood and make-up fans unite!!

today I am completely worn out.  on days like this, I like to sit and surf the internet. one of my favorite things to look at is youtube and the make-up tutorials. I am completely hooked and have found myself playing around with different looks as well as browsing my local Sephora for hours. Today as I listen to the thunder and enjoy a glass of wine, I found the new True Blood make-up by Tarte. Needless to say, I'm excited!!

If you are not familiar with either, get with the program people. The show speaks for itself (although I prefer the book series), and the makeup is really great not to mention "green"...you know, environmentally savvy. I have an eyeshadow palate of 10 great colors as well as 3 lipsurgences. The lipsurgence is a balm/stain infused with peppermint oil to offer a bit of a plump without the sting and also rehydrates to leave lips soft and smooth.  Mmmm, mmmm.....

I suppose I will have to purchase this. I don't think I'll get all the pieces, but I'll def get the lip stain. All you gals out there, go online or run into your local Sephora to check this stuff out! The True Blood kits are not in stores yet, a couple weeks to go, but all are available online.
Play and post me your pics!!

have a great night everyone!

Happy Independence Day!!

As I drive off to my friend's pool for an afternoon of fun and food, I reflect to remember why we are celebrating...freedom. We are truly blessed to live in a country where women can vote, kids don't have to fight in war as a pre-teen, and we as a Nation can rally together in the midst of natural disasters and terrorist attacks. God bless the USA!! I am proud to be an American, are you??

Be safe and Happy 4th!!

just a normal sunday night...

today is July 3, 2011...my children are with their dad and my boyfriend and I just finished a great dinner. sitting around on our electronics, him the ipad, me the MacBook, I thought...I should start a blog. I mean, what else should I do with my free time. I only have 2 kids, a boyfriend, a full time job, a part time job, and school...I think I have 1 hour, 13 minutes I'm not using.

I know you're all dying to know what we had for dinner, so here ya go:
I love multi-grain sour dough bread from publix, so I toasted some, brushed an olive oil, vinegar, salt and oregano mixture on it, layered with fresh mozzarella and tomato, brushed with oil again and... delish! to wash it down? some ice cold modelo especial.

I know as time goes by, this blog will be so addicting, you'll think "when you gonna post again?" till next time, good night and happy 4th!!
